I have seen so many consumers loose their shirts these days when they use cash advance companies and their loaded APR lending. It seems that no matter what we do, there are always going to be people that are in serious financial turmoil because of something they have done themselves, or something they wish they had never done.
They get so far behind on their bills due to a job loss, bad spending and lack of saving habits, medical bills, divorce - you name it. Sometimes they are just completely ignorant to what budgeting means and how important it is. I wish that these people would all get their act together and stop using these payday loan companies once and for all.
I know I am likely dreaming, because the State and Federal Governing bodies have no intention of every putting an end to the abuse that is being administered by these scummy lenders upon the poor and "under-wealthy" citizens in Austin. Perhaps there will be day when the education standards will increase, and our youth finally learns how important it is to stay financially solvent when they are growing up.
I know that I sound like the two old men in the balcony on the Muppets, and I sound like the old fart who doesn't like the way things are in the new world - but let's face it. It's really a mess when borrowers are borrowing money at APR rates climbing above 500% - when will this stupidity ever end?
Where are the parents that should be explaining to their kids how interest rates work, and what APR stands for? Why do young people these days spend so much more money than they make on a monthly basis? Why do the lawmakers in Washington and in Texas insist on creating a lending environment that takes full advantage of these poor, defenseless borrowers, that don't seem to have any clue in the world.
The good news is that I'm not the only one complaining about these loan sharks. There are many other people that have had enough of these lenders - they're blogging about it now, and they're talking about it. Maybe there will be a day when everyone figures it out, and collectively we put an end to predatory lending in our Cities, Towns, and neighborhoods.
I have listed some other bloggers blogs that are fighting back with some basic information on the subject. Really glad to see they are talking about my hometown as well. They're articles are here;
